2 weeks ago, I got myself a D90. The latest model out of the Nikon DSLR lineup,
the D90 boasts a number of new features and since I am a videographer, I was
most interested in its capability of shooting HD video. So I put my D90 to the test
and shot random clips at a music video shoot at Skatepark in QC, and a family
outing in Subic. Now, here are the test results:
Pros:
1) Spanking image quality… even in low-light conditions
2) Two mediums in one camera : ) kewl!
3) DSLR lenses. Depth-of-field… Depth of field!
4) 24p. Enough said.
Cons:
1) Rolling shutter issues
2) Fixed LCD… makes low angle shooting excruciatingly difficult
3) No Overcranking : (
4) limited manual controls in movie mode
Bottom line, I enjoyed shooting with the D90. Maybe I’ll try using it in one of our
future wedding coverages… who knows? ; )
